Instructions

    1. Prepare Dates: Place chopped dates in a bowl, pour boiling water over them, and sprinkle with baking soda. Let sit for 10 minutes to soften.

    2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

    3. Combine Ingredients: Add the softened date mixture to the wet ingredients and stir. Then fold in the flour, walnuts, and salt until just combined.

    4. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
